Greek Donuts with sweet Honey and walnuts




Ingredients:

100ml lukewarm water


150ml lukewarm milk


5g dry yeast


1 teaspoon sugar


225g all-purpose flour


01 teaspoon vanilla extract


01 teaspoon ground cinnamon


50g Chopped walnuts




Honey citrus syrup
Ingredients:

01 cup honey


½ cup sugar


½ cup water


2 inch strips lemon rind


2 inch strips orange rind


01 cinnamon stick


Method:

Whisk the water, yeast and sugar together in small bowl until yeast is dissolved.
Sift flour into large bowl, add milk ,vanilla, and salt, and gradually stir in yeast mixture until smooth, cover, stand in warm place about 45 minutes - 60 minutes or until mixture has doubled in size.








Meanwhile, make honey citrus syrup.

Method Honey citrus syrup:

Stir ingredients in small saucepan over heat until sugar dissolves; bring to the boil, reduce heat; simmer 10 minutes or until thickened slightly, cool.





Heat oil in large saucepan or wok, deep-fry rounded teaspoons of batter, in batches, until browned lightly and cooked through. Drain on absorbent paper.
Drizzle hot loukoumades with syrup, sprinkle with cinnamon and walnuts
